Score

"Sawubona" is a profound Zulu greeting from South Africa that literally translates to "I see you."  Beyond a simple "hello," it signifies deep recognition of a person’s presence, worth, dignity, and humanity, essentially meaning "I see you, and by seeing you, I bring you into being."

Derek has created a delightful, original work that brings us all into the heart and soul of this amazing music. The melody is infectious and will leave everyone humming or whistling it! Perfectly placed stopped techiques include TD, RT, mallet, mallet-lift, mart, and mart-lift lightly played will make it dance throughout. Dynamics add expression and dimension to this fabulous work. Adding Boomwhackers (conveniently color-coded in the score) adds an entirely new dimension to this work. Including all or even some of the optional African percussion is the icing on this musical cake!

SAWUBONA! is certain to become a favorite of ringers and audience alike!
