Caleb Onstead takes your ensemble on a journey of contrasts through a dynamic new work for advanced ensembles. Commissioned by Capital Carillon for the occasion of their 30th Anniversary, Carillon Rhapsody employs the full range of standard handbells and handchimes as well as Silver Melody Bells and 5 octaves of Petit and Fritsen Bells (or other alternatively tuned bells). What ensues is a series of rich soundscapes in which advanced ringers will thrive. As you may imagine, a variety of techniques are included: LV, mallet on table, RT, Sk, mart, and mart-lift. Mixed meters, key and tempo changes, plus musical nuance work together to create this amazing work. Caleb has provided extensive performance notes with assignment suggestions and you may even choose to perform an ‘alternate’ ending.
Thrill your audiences and elevate your ringers with this exciting original work for bronze level groups!
