James has combined these three favorite hymns into a creative, expressive, and lovely medley. It is mostly rung and features the melody equally in both handbells and handchimes. The key changes include G major and F major and are deftly crafted, flowing nicely from one tune to the next. There are sections where the accompaniment should be smoothly rung as it supports the melody. An obbligato in the 7’s above the main tune makes the Ode to Joy sparkle and the addition of well-placed shakes and marts add just the right amount of excitement as all three hymns are creatively combined in a fabulous ending.
