Timothy Sherlock is an Australian music educator, conductor and choral and handbell composer. For almost twenty years, Timothy has taught and contributed to the development of Kodály-based music and choral programs in a number of secondary schools and universities. He has presented at music education/choral workshops, seminars and Summer Schools throughout Australia. He is a regular adjudicator at music competitions and eisteddfodau. In 2010, Timothy studied in Hungary and observed musicianship, music pedagogy and choral conducting classes at the Kodály School, Liszt Academy (Budapest) and Kodály Institute (Kecskemét). Timothy has studied handbell technique and ensemble direction with Debbie Rice (USA), Dr John Hooper (Canada) and Lee Afdahl. He is currently a board member of the Handbell Society of Australasia and is a member of the Music Education and Training sub-committee which developed the Levels 1 and 2 Handbell Director certification.
In August of 2016, Timothy represented Australasia as the Australasian massed-ringing conductor at the 17th International Handbell Symposium in Vancouver, Canada.
Timothy currently directs the Queensland Performing Arts Complex (QPAC) Choir, an adult community choir based at Queensland’s premier performing arts facility. He is also the director of the Australian Catholic University Choir (Brisbane campus), the Children’s Health Queensland Community Choir, the Villanova College Choir and the Handbell Ensemble at All Hallows’ School.
